Glen Campbell was diagnoses with Alzheimer and I was watching a special on CNN, and it was so sad for all involved. Not only does it destroy the memories of the one who has it, it also affect all those who love a person with this horrible disease that there is no cure for. Glen Campbell is the first country crossover star, who still draws big crowds with his mellifluous voice, credits God and his wife with releasing him from substance abuse and ”carnal pleasure.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, Alzheimer’s disease causes changes in the brain that lead to destruction of memory and a loss of important mental functions. Receiving a diagnosis of the disease is life-changing. People like Glen Campbell are able to educate the world and learn more about the disease.
I remember listening to Glen Campbell growing up. I’m not really big into the whole country music thing, but I knew his songs. Mostly because my parents were huge fans of his. The Rhinestone Cowboy was the first song I ever learned all the way through. We would drive our bus driver nuts on the way to school when I lived in Hyder, AZ. It was a long ride, so she was pretty sick of it by the end of the day. Most of the students on the bus sang that one and Delta Dawn by Tanya Tucker. I’m willing to bet she wanted to pull her hair out.
As I was watching the documentary about Glen Campbell, I couldn’t help but feel bad for not just him, but also his loved ones. They have slowly came to the realization that he doesn’t know who they are. I can’t even begin to understand the sadness they carry with them as they try to find any trace of their father and Kim Campbell’s husband. During the documentary, Glen Campbell had a hard time knowing who his daughter was. Ashley would sing with him during some of his shows and it was extremely apparent that he had difficulties with even the smallest things.
One of the most touching parts of the documentary on CNN was when his daughter Ashley went before Congress to help raise funds and awareness for research for Alzheimer’s research. She stated while in tears that it is hard to come to the realization that someday her dad would look at her and she will mean nothing to him.
Glen Campbell decided to make his battle public and document his battle with the disease that he could hope to help others cope with the stigma and shame that often accompany the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. I never knew there were 7 stages with Alzheimer’s, and Glen is at the 6th stage. He has very little time left.
CNN Website: As Glen’s wife, Kim, explains in the film, “This is a really challenging illness for people to deal with every moment of their life. He can’t find the bathroom in his own house… He clings to me like I’m his anchor for ‘Who am I?’ ‘What am I?’ I’m his safety blanket that he wants around all the time.”
His daughter and those who knows him the most says that his faith in God keeps him going. I came across and article that pretty much sized up the kind of faith Glen Campbell has and Who is in charge of his life. It said, “I eventually lowered my guard and opened my heart. He changed me in ways in which I would have never changed myself. Kim was praying toward that end the whole time. Her prayers just might have saved my life.”
One of the video’s that documents his journey is “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.” One of the verses in the song is “I’m still here, but yet I’m gone,” and “I’m never gonna hold you like I did, or say I love you to the kids.” Below is a list of warning signs of Alzheimer’s.
Symptoms of Alzheimer’s
Memory loss about time and place
Struggling to complete familiar actions, such as brushing teeth or getting dressed
Trouble finding the appropriate words, completing sentences, and following directions
I am watching the funeral of Reverend Clementa Pinkney on MSNBC right now and what and inspirational funeral this is. They are singing, “It Is Well With my Soul”. Even President Obama is joining in. I am amazed by the love and faith this church has. It is extremely humbling for me and what an awesome testimony for the world. They are sharing the gospel with the world and showing the true love of God and the forgiveness we must all have. I’m pretty sure that many won’t want to listen to Obama’s speech, if you don’t, then that is OK. But, it was an awesome speech about God and God’s grace and forgiveness. Listen To Part of Speech and Amazing Grace. Entire Speech
John 3:16-21, 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God
While their hearts are broken, tears are shed they are standing strong and bringing their burdens before the Lord. The church is packed and to watch this kind of a service on the news is beyond anything I could imagine. These 9 lives and this church has the opportunity to show what it means to love the Lord and to have the kind of faith that will bring them through the darkness and into the light.
My heart has a hard time understanding why someone would choose to do what this young man did. My prayers is that this young man has a change of heart. He sat in the Bible study for an hour. I pray that whatever words were spoken will fall on his heart. I have no doubt that people can change. I have seen it happen over and over again. This young man has many years left and God has a way of putting the right people into our lives.
2 Corinthians 15:54,55 — So *WHEN* this corruptible has put on in corruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, THEN* shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
As I am listening to all the songs, sermons and messages, I would hope that I would be identifiable to those who don’t know me. Would they know I am a person of faith and my faith is in Christ alone. When they talk about how in this world, we are just passing through. My home is not here, I am passing through.
In closing I just want to say that I have been put in situations and I felt that it was better for me to not say something or hurt someones feelings. There were times I should have stood up for my faith in Christ. I have missed opportunities to witness to others. As a Christian I have the responsibility to share my testimony and what God has done in my life. Even though this young man killed these 9 people in Charleston, S.C. “He didn’t know he was being used by God. God can turn bad things into good and it is evident in Charleston.
I was in a conversation with someone on Facebook about how they think I should charge the church for things that I do. For me that isn’t even an option. There would be no way I would charge my church for anything that I do. This will be the only time I will post on this type of thing since it takes away from God and the gift of giving.
The reason she was saying that is that she also does websites and is computer savvy. She understands the cost and the time involved. She went on to say that I could bank on what I give away. I don’t see it that way. She has also done analyticals for Google and has set up customers to have websites done. Normally a company will charge around $75.00 an hour if they are doing a website. Everything is added onto the bill. So it can get very pricey. I guess where she lives on the east coast, they have a huge church and people are paid for every little thing. When I explained to her that the only one at my church that gets paid is our pastor, she was shocked. As she was talking to me she said that she has never heard of a church that didn’t pay others within the church. I then explained that our pastor gets paid because he is always on call and its a 24 hour thing. He has no outside job since he is serving in a full time pastoral capacity. My pastor is pretty awesome when it comes to going above and beyond. Our pastor has many hats that he wears and deserves a whole lot more than what he gets in my opinion.
My friend could understand that, but not how people at my church doesn’t get paid for other things. My church is full of people who give of their time and services. In my mind if I charged the church for what I do, I would be charging God. That is wrong on so many levels. Tithing is something that I have always struggled with. I should be giving more, even though the church would have to pay someone else outside of the church for what I do, but I think I need to do more. Donating my time and services isn’t just for the church, it is for myself also. For the most part, I don’t go into details about what I do for my church, since they don’t need to know and it isn’t about me. I feel very blessed to know that God gave me the gift of doing things such as websites and computer things. What I find interesting about this gift that God gave me is that I never went to school for computers or anything to do with them. God helped me help others. I am able to use these talents in a way to make a difference to others and to my church. Doing these things also allows me to fill my time since I can’t work. It’s a win win. I’m not the only one who feels this way though, my church is filled with people are never ask for anything, they are more than happy to do what is needed.
The whole conversation was about money from her standpoint. From my standpoint, it wasn’t an issue. She must be an accountant or has a background in it since she was breaking down what I could make. If I were to charge the church for the services I offer, it would be into the thousands of dollars, if not into the tens of thousands. She then went on to talk about how much time I spend each week on doing the presentations that is put on during the service. She asked me about how much time I spend each week on just the power-point presentation. I told her it is about 8-12 hrs per week. Of course she knew this already. I got the idea that she wasn’t grasping the fact that in my mind and in the mind of those who go to my church, it isn’t even a consideration to charge. I have also donated my time to help Christian churches reach out to others. As long as it is to advance the Kingdom of God, it is free. Again, God shouldn’t be charged.
Our church has many members and non members that donate their services and funds. They keep quiet about what they do as it should be. There are some things that I am aware of and other things are silent donations, and that’s how it should be. When we do things for the Lord, it shouldn’t be about how much we give and that we gave the most. What I do is minor and trivial considering what others do in the church and for God. My friends questions and concerns reminds me of Matthew 6:2,“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”It is about doing what needs to be done and not wanting the glory for ourselves. I am only writing on this to help those who think it is OK to charge God is OK, because it isn’t. Those in my church nor myself would never think about charging for helping the church and advancing the Kingdom of God. I guess from some peoples perspectives, churches doesn’t run this way anymore. I found that sad since that is how those who are Christians should be acting.
I hope my friend Michelle will read this post since she is the one who wanted me to post on it.
Sorry this is a long blog, but it is worth reading. It is warnings to prevent you from being scammed and taken advantage of online.
Have you ever wondered if the person you are talking to over the internet is really who they say they are? I know I have questioned this at times. The internet has made it possible for people to live anyway they want. There is a commercial that is about how the woman believes everything on the internet. If it is there, it must be true. The internet has changed the world when it comes to health and allowing people to self-diagnose. There are positives and negatives when it comes to too much information on the internet. This becomes a form of trolling.
Also, the internet and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and other ones makes it easy for scammers to take advantage of people. Lately there has been a number of scams showing up on Facebook. I am mainly thinking on Munchhausen by Internet. It is a slap in the face when we discover that we have been lied to. Millions have people have fallen for the lies of those who prey on the heart of unsuspecting people. There are some pretty elaborate stories out there. With everything available online, it is easy to research an illness. It doesn’t take long before they come across sympathetic listeners. Most who have Munchhausen by internet are lonely people who are craving sympathy and attention.
Many times the person who has Munchhausen by Internet will start off getting to know those involved in the groups. I first noticed this when I went to my first chat-room on Angelhaven. I noticed how easy it was to deceive someone. I never used the internet, so this was all new to me. There was one lady that was from Canada. I think her name was Ginger. She was talking about her struggles and eventually, she gained the trust of those in the chat-room. She was getting Sympathy and people invested a great deal financially and emotionally. I feel for it also and she sent me her telephone number. She proceeded to ask for money and it became emotionally draining. I had to step away.
Munchhausen Syndrome — a condition in which patients fake illness to get attention, often undergoing unnecessary tests and surgeries — is rare, such online versions of such fraud are becoming common enough to concern people with real life-threatening illnesses in support groups. There are a number of types of Munchhausen such as Munchhausen by Proxy, which means they hurt someone else. Or there is Munchhausen Syndrome where a person hurts themselves and seeks attention. This blog is about Munchhausen by Internet. I belong to a group on Facebook that discusses Guillian Barre Syndrome. It is easy to get sucked in if you’re not careful. More and more cases of Munchhausen by Internet are occurring. Below are some examples that I have directly witnessed.
Cancer– In our area there was a lady who convinced everyone that she had cancer. She needed help with her medical bills, transportation and other necessities. She went as far as to shave her head. The woman’s friends and community became skeptical when they never seen her go to the Dr’s or to receive treatment. Just days before a major fundraiser, her gig was up. She ended up getting arrested for theft of services and falsifying reports. When you realize that you have been lied to and manipulated it is like a punch in the gut. I feel anger and resentment when I find out I was lied to.
Guillian Barre Syndrome– Recently there was a gentleman that joined a group I belong to. His name is Jesse and he just joined and started off talking about how he was diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome. He needed help financially and was asking others what to expect. He was having to drive 5 hours a day for IVIG treatments. Those of us who have had or have Guillian Barre knows that there is no way a person can drive. I took this very personal since I have the CIPD varient which is the chronic form. If he was newly diagnosed and he would have been in ICU on a vent. Some of us caught on to his scam and found the images he posted on other sites. It takes months before you can even walk, let alone drive. Most times it is years. We all knew he was trying to scam people. But, there was a few that was suckered in. They asked for a place to send money and all kinds of things.
Anorexia/Bulimia – A friend of mine just divorced his wife of 20 years. She has been talking to her friends and those on the internet about helping her out. She has a daughter and step son and she is about to loose custody of both of them. She is very computer savvy and has been researching Anorexia. She hasn’t been to bad for a couple years, but now things are worse since her husband left her. But she is loosing everything and her family unit is destroyed. They are Christian and my prayer is that they can reconcile. But, she has lost her health, lively hood and trust of her family and friends. She has been soliciting funds and she was being treated at a mental health place in Phoenix, but she left when they wanted her to start taking responsibility for her own actions and choices. As of right now, she is refusing to do that and mentally she isn’t there. She could possibly loose her daughter. Which is sad.
I was reading how a woman who was sick both physically and emotionally ended up soliciting funds from everyone all over the world. The had people paying bills, sending gifts and paying for special trips. She is receiving services from the state and she is getting private donations. People with Munchhausen end up costing the medical system billions of dollars each year. There are people sitting in prison right now for faked and exaggerated illnesses. Munchhausen has a way of destroying families financially and emotionally. They are prisoners in a sense.
Now days it’s hard to not hear about these kinds of things. It’s as if those who help others and feel they need to be like Christ and show love are targets to these scammers. Don’t buy into this type of behavior. Below are some tale tale warning signs when it comes to Munchhausen by Internet. By the way, there are also other forms of Munchhausen.
There are ongoing dramatic events going on in the persons life. The focus is on them and they crave attention.
They posts consistently duplicate material in other posts, in books, or on health-related websites;
Heighten fear and crisis’s such as septic shock and infections. There have been times that people have injected themselves with things that will cause the body to go into shock.
Posting comments or updates about the person, which is really the scammer. Look for patterns in how they write or say something.
They are dying and all of the sudden they are healed. If they say they are in the hospital, you can call it and they will verify if they are or not. They can’t give personal info, but they will confirm. I have had to do this a few times.
If someone is called out on things they have said or done, they will become furious and will go overboard in defending themselves. They will NEVER admit that they are doing things to themselves.
Every now and then there will be a miraculous recovery – eventually there will be more dramatic things going on, a relapse or other conditions.
They are knowledgeable when it comes to medical terms. When I think of this warning sign, I think of my own situation. There are times that each person has to be proactive and know what is going on. I research all the things my Dr’s give me or says. Since I have rare disorders I need to know. So with this warning sign, you may want to err on the side of caution.
For me, I guess this is a personal issue since I have known a few that have done this. I was fooled a few times and I have my guard up now. The nice thing about the internet is that it is easy to research things. Most times these scammers are going to other websites and learning about their fictitious and life threatening illness. Not everyone that posts or shares what they are going through are like this. There are genuinely sick people who needs help. Those who are deceitful makes it really hard to trust those who are honest. It’s sad that it has to be that way.
Those who have this lying disorder most of all are seeking attention, funds or material items. There will be some truth to their stories so they can prove something to those who want proof they are sick. The majority of people are honest and they have no problem sharing with you. I would thing that the famous quote, ” if it is too good to be true, it probably isn’t.” Also it seems terrible and dramatic and someone says how bad things are, it probably isn’t. Trust your instincts. If you have a feeling you are being lied to, you may be right.
I try to be a loving and caring person. As a Christian, we are to treat others how we would like to be treated and to love others. When it comes to online scams and those who only care about themselves I have found that I can’t always trust what people post online. Most people on my Facebook I know personally or have met. Those who I don’t know personally doesn’t get all the posts I share. It is important to protect yourself when it comes to online relationships.
In closing, I just want to say that while the person is deceiving and doing what they are doing, we must remember that this is also a mental disorder and that needs to be treated. While I hate being lied to and deceived, I try to remember to love the person, pray for them and listen.
Exodus 15:26 – Saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”
When it comes to all my health related issues, things are complicated to say the least. The Dr’s are at a loss as to what to do. They have pretty much tried just about anything and I have been on home health for a long time. I am bringing this up because of my appointment I had with my cardiologist today.
For a long time, they have been trying to bring my blood pressure down. They have diagnosed my blood pressure as “malignant hypertension.” Which basically means that it is out of control. My blood pressure is on the average well over 200 for the top and around 120 for the bottom number. I take about 8 or 9 medications just for that. My blood pressure though is secondary since it is because of the Myastenia Gravis and the CIPD variant of Guillian Barre Syndrome. Since it is summer, it will get worse as it always does. So it will linger around the 230/120 mark at any given moment and it has a way of going much higher on any given day. I realize it is serious, but there isn’t much that can be done to change it. I have chosen to not stress or worry about it since that isn’t what I want to focus on. My cardiologist is stressed enough since he said he is unable to control it. He pretty much has said that there is nobody that he treats that he can’t help. He must have had a hard time admitting that. He also said, he can’t be responsible for the outcome. Not sure that is a good or bad thing. I guess it depends on how I take it.
The last few minutes of today’s visit was what I enjoy doing at Dr’s appointments. And, that would be to witness to my Dr’s. Some Dr’s, not all have it in their mind that they are the one that can control everything, when that is far from the truth. I have some pretty awesome Dr’s and nurse friends that aren’t like this. But, my cardiologist isn’t like that. He asked me how I can handle the things I do and it is simple. I handle things because I know that God is the only one in control. He is the great physician. God has blessed Dr’s with the ability to help people and cure them. Ultimately it is up to God. I have chosen to trust in God and my faith is in Him, not Dr’s. I trust my Dr’s, but my faith is in God.
Jesus came to heal the sick from physical and emotional illnesses. From my own experiences I have found that there is no condition that Jesus can’t heal. I’m not necessarily thinking a physical healing since there are many forms of healing. I was explaining to my Dr that no matter what happens that Jesus will heal and that is why I have faith in Him alone. Over and over again, Jesus praised those who were being healed because of their faith. When we read Mark 5:25-34 it talks about how the woman who was sick knew that if she were to touch even His cloths, that she will be healed and made well. Immediately after she touched his garments, she was healed of her disease. Jesus healed those who asked to be healed and who had faith that they would be healed.
Acts 5:16, “Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name . . . they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
As I was talking to my cardiologist I made sure that if nothing else from today’s visit that he knew that my faith was in Christ. As a Christian, I feel that we need to be prayerful and trusting. Faith is necessary and throughout the Bible we see that this is the main ingredient when it comes to healing stories and miracles. If we have a lack of faith, we may not experience healing. If nothing else happens during my visits, I think that Jesus put me in the offices of Dr’s and caregivers that needed to hear about Him. I feel blessed that I can witness to them and talk to them about my faith in Christ. I feel worse for the Dr’s than I do myself. When I come across a Dr who has come to the point where they have no idea what to do next, I have the privilege of telling them to pray and trust God.
In closing, I just want to say that if you are in need of the Great Physicians, now is a good time to schedule an appointment with God. No copay is needed and your visit has been paid in full.
By now, I am guessing that for the most part some have heard how the end of the world will be September 28th, 2015. Some say it may even be 60-90 days following the last of the blood moons that will occur on September 28th. Doom and gloom has been on the hearts and minds of Christians all over the world for centuries. While I think it is possible that Christ will come again during this period, we still don’t know. I will be taking pictures of the blood moons like I take pictures of the regular moons. When I am watching the blood moons through my camera lens and as the eclipses happen, I can’t help but be watching for the return of Christ. I also watch for him during lightening storms and on a daily basis. I often wonder if people are stressed and scared by this if they are really Christians since I think of the second coming as the most awesome event that could ever happen. For the non-believer if you are in a panic, I would advice you to get right with God. As I listen to those who are panic stricken, I think of these Bible verses.
Matthew 24:36 – “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Acts 1:7 – He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
Mark 13:32 – “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
There has been mass hysteria in 2012 when it came to the Mayan prophecy and the ISON comet . People were gearing up for the end of the world and was giving things away so they could be ready. It was pretty crazy. As the day came and went, Harold Camping re-calculated once again when the world would end. That day also came and went. He was looked at as if he was a crazy dooms dayer. I have to say, I thought he was nuts from the beginning and since he was a pastor, he should have known better. Harold Camping died in 2013 and I can’t help but wonder what it would be like for someone that mislead so many would be when they stand before the Lord. Predictions like these take away from the truth of what God has told us in the Bible.
These types of predictions have a tendency to be more harmful than good. As a Christian, I don’t believe we should be putting it out there that we know for sure when Christ will return. It is dangerous and when it doesn’t happen, it becomes a running joke. For those who think they know the world would end during the time period of September 28th – Sometime in January, I want to share some other dates that people thought the world was going to end. This is just a short list. There are actually pages of predictions of when Christ would come again. Obviously, they were all wrong since I am blogging about this.
1914: Jehovah’s Witnesses: Armageddon
1978: Jim Jones took his cult with him by means of suicide.
1980: Pat Robertson: “A year of sorrow and bloodshed that will have no end soon, for the world is being torn apart, and kingdom shall rise from the ruins of it.”
1994: Some Jehovah’s Witnesses: Armageddon
1997: Heaven’s Gate: Earth changes and a UFO abduction coinciding with the Hale-Bopp comet. Mass suicide in the hopes of hitching a ride on said UFOs.
2000: Y2K: Collapse of civilization. Christian preachers in Papua New Guinea predicted the end
2007: Hal Lindsey: Second Coming.
2007: Pat Robertson: Great Tribulation.
2008: Sarah Palin: believes she is of the “Final Generation” and will see the End Times during her lifetime
2011: Harold Camping tries again: Third Second coming/rapture. May 21st, to be precise. He even put up billboards
What I found interesting is that Hal Lindsey said that in 2037 that this will be the third coming of Christ. I’m not too sure what that means. I haven’t read anything in the Bible that there would be a third coming.
The Blood Moon Prophecy has been in the news a lot lately. John Hagee and Mark Biltz are saying that the upcoming tetrad (a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, with six full moons in between, and no intervening partial lunar eclipses) which begins with the April 2014 lunar eclipse is a sign of significant things to come. Biltz believes that the Second Coming will coincide with the final eclipse of the tetrad, while Hagee only believes the eclipses are a sign of coming change in the course of history for Israel. While I do believe it is significant, I don’t believe that we should be preaching to the world that it is going to end on a particular date.
Mark Biltz predicts that the Second Coming of Christ will coincide with the final eclipse of the tetrad, which is September 28th, 2015. He is stating this because of what it says in Joel 2:31 that “the moon will turn to blood “before the great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.” The probable red appearance of the moon during the April 15 eclipse is thus equated with the verse. Five other verses (Isaiah 13:10, Joel 2:10, Joel 3:15, Matthew 24:29, and Revelation 6:12).
Revelations 6:12 – “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The Sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair. The whole Moon turned blood red.”
I believe that more Christians are paying attention to this particular tetrad because of the eclipses coincide with the full moon marking Passover on April 15th and April 4th and the Jewish observance of Sukkot on October 8th and September 28th. I’m not sure how many realize that the Passover is always marked by a Full Moon, and a lunar eclipse always coincides with a full moon by definition, meaning it cannot occur at any other phase.
The fact is, eight of the tetrads since the first century have coincided with Jewish holidays without the world going under, so there is no reason to believe that the 2014-2015 tetrad will end the world this time either. I can’t guarantee this though since I’m not God. It could happen since anything is possible. But I haven’t gotten the memo yet like many have before me (sarcasm intended).
Tetrad of 162-163 (Marcus Aurelius Comes to Power March 7th, 161 A.D)
Tetrad of 795-796 (Charles Martel defeats Arab Invasion of Europe)
Tetrad of 842-843 (Arabs Attack Rome 11,000 Troops)
Tetrad of 860-861 (Byzantine Defeat Muslims – Decline Begins)
Four consecutive blood moons coinciding with Jewish feast days has only occurred three times since 1492 AD. The three times since 1492 are as follows:
Tetrad of 1493-1494 – Spain Expelled the Jews
Tetrad of 1949-1950 – Israel was reborn as a nation
Tetrad of 1967-1968 – Israel won the Six-Day War and recaptured Jerusalem
The only think that I can say for sure is that Christ will come again and I will be sure that I am ready. I don’t know when it will be. I don’t believe what man will claim they know. I only trust in what God has given us. Christ is going to come again when He gets here. Like I said earlier, it is dangerous to be saying we know the exact time since we are told over and over again in the Bible that we won’t know the day nor the hour.
I have been working on my churches power-point for this coming Sunday. This one got me thinking about the shooting in Charleston S.C. 9 lives were taken by the hands of a gunman. Yet, those people offered this young man forgiveness. My last blog was on the shooting to. What touched my heart was that as they prepare to bury their loved ones, they were singing the hymn “We Will Overcome”. Our sermon is titled, “Living as Overcomers.” Video of We Shall Overcome by Pete Seeger.
I went to the churches website and was reading about the Bible study that was going on. On this night, God received 9 people into Heaven. On the website this was the description;
Is something missing from your life? Are you doing all you can to have a closer relationship with God? If you have a desire to learn more about God, then join us on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the church. We look forward to seeing you!
My pastor didn’t know what was happening since when he sent me the information to put on the screen for our service, the shooting hasn’t happened yet. The whole time I was doing the power-point for church, I was listening to story after story on CNN about how they love the lord and how all have sinned. We must all forgive since God instructed us to forgive. While their hearts were breaking, they are trusting fully in the Lord.
One of the ladies stated that she is a work in progress and she is very angry, but she has forgiven him also. I have to admit I would have a hard time doing that.
There are many out there that thinks that Christians in America are spoiled and that nothing would happen to us since we are a free nation. There is persecution going on everyday. These people were participating in a Bible study. I would hope if I were to be killed, I would be doing the Lords work. People are afraid to stand up for what they believe because they think they will be put away or killed.I have people tell me every now and then that I shouldn’t blog a certain subject since it will make someone feel bad. More people needs to be standing up for what is right and not be afraid of hurting someones feelings. Persecution is happening in America right now. Churches aren’t safe and neither is any other place. Within minutes life can change.
This church in South Carolina has touched a special spot in my heart. They aren’t afraid and they offer forgiveness. They are praising God in the midst of their storm. The sermon that is this Sunday will have special meaning to those who know what is happening in the world. This is a sensitive subject for me since I have nieces and nephews of all races. Hatred and racism needs to end. I don’t think it ever will till Christ returns. People that are prejudice and hateful makes me sick to my stomach. God created all people and the color of the skin shouldn’t matter. My prayer is for Christ to come and rescue us all.
